This is what climate protection looks like.

High energy efficiency, lower costs

Recycling Process

PLEXIGLAS? is recycled in a special production process that is unique in Europe. The recycling plant in the Austrian town of Gramatneusiedl near Vienna is the only one that can recycle PLEXIGLAS? in this high degree of purity and without material losses.

In Gramatneusiedl, cast PLEXIGLAS? is heated to as much as 400 degrees Celsius. This splits it into its original building blocks, methyl methacrylate (MMA) and further substances. Whereas solids are retained, the gaseous MMA rises and is cooled in the next step. MMA is then available again in liquid form, but still contains additives that are responsible for various properties. These are separated from the MMA in a distillation process. After that, the recycled MMA has a purity of over 99 percent.
